Doom
32X
ID Software / Sega of America

Doom is one of the most well known games of all time. It launched the first-person genre and a group of watchdogs worried about videogame violence. Doom was not just a controversial game, it was a great game with several sequels and ports. The 32X port was great for its time, but doesn't compare to the PC version. For those of you who have been living under a rock, in Doom you play as a space marine on Mars when the planet becomes overrun with demons. Armed with on a pistol to start with; you alone try to purge the base of evil. The game has several different enemies to kill, from imps and zombies to lost souls. There are seven different weapons to deal carnage with, including a shotgun and a rocket launcher. The 32X version has half as many levels as the registered PC version, and the picture does not fill the screen due to hardware limitations. The graphics are nowhere near as sharp as the PC version, but the controls work well. Good for a complete 32X collection.
