Fighting Force 2
Dreamcast
Core / Eidos Interactive

Fighting Force 2 is a throwback to the old beat'em up games like Street of Rage. And don't expect much else. You are a SI-COP, an agent that cracks down on corporate crime. The bad guy, the Knackmiche Corporation, their plan is to create a clone, which happens to be against the law. Much like the story the rest of the game is uninspired. The game is full 3D, but its textures are dark and grainy; and the model and world poly counts are quite low. Being that it is a PlayStation port this is normal. Its camera is also very "PlayStation"... it is slow and annoying, at least it is not Resident Evil style static cameras. The game's story is your standard corporations run everything. The controls consists of a punch, kick, jump, strafe,. weapon select, and first person mode. There are many simple combos you can achieve, but the combat is bland. Its only saving grace is the weapons, ranging from melee weapons like a lead pipe to machine guns. The combat for the most part is boring since you seem to fight the same enemies over and over again over long periods of time in very bland environments. Also, the game supports saving, but it is a long way between save points making the game insanely frustrating. And there are times where I got stuck between objects. Unless you like mindless beat'em ups and want to destroy arbitrary corporate equipment for weapons don't bother with Fighting Force 2.
