Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb reunite on the last Front Line Assembly album, creating the most diverse album in the FLA catalog. It has some songs that are optimistic and almost seem happy, like Transmitter. The album also has more of a world sound than the old biomechanical sound of old. Maniacal and Dissident are close to the old FLA style, but most the other are a departure. Psychosomatic is a great opener that lets you know this album is different. Vanished is an ambient track that will sneak up on you. Strategic is a short heavy hitting track. The title track is an atmospheric song with an acoustic guitar about the fall of civilization. Schicksal is led by odd German vocals. Even with all the variance, the album is well written and produced. But, it may take time to get used to, if it does not coincide with your concept of Front Line Assembly. Too bad this is the end, but I guess they have outgrown this outfit.
