This is the fourth studio album by the Brit rock band muse. Many will know that one of muse's early influences was the other successful band Radiohead. For those that don't know Radiohead created three great rock albums and then went experimental creating the album kid A. this is Muse's kid A in every single way. When I heard this I became skeptical of the new album but the album has shone through and became a winner in my book. I have only played the album through once and already there are favorite tracks, I like Exoploitics and City of Elusion which both feature fancy catchy guitar riffs and a strong beat. It is unfortunate then that not all of the album is as strong as these tracks and those decided for the first singles (Supermassive Black Hole, which is like a funk rock disco song sang in Scissor Sisters' style falsetto, and Knights of Cydonia, which is the perfect epic ending to the album). For this album muse decided they would not go for songs that would be easy to play live but to see how far they could push the studio album. (After hearing Supermassive Black Hole live though I can confirm that they definitely still work well in this context) Black Holes and Revelations is a departure from all that has come from before and may disappoint people who are already fans of muse but if you listen I am sure anyone will find a track at least that they like.
