Quake 3 Arena is one of the most popular multiplayer shooters on the market. It is powered by a great engine, but the game really doesn't take advantage of it. The game is filled will sameness, all the levels look similar and the weapons are all from previous ID games; shotgun, lightning gun, plasma rifle, and so on. The player models are nice and unique though. The game comes with bots, but they are horrible at pathfinding and don't act at all like human opponents. The only mode that is fully developed is the death match mode, which is fun but can get old. The greatest asset to Quake is its modability. There are several great mods worth a download for it. Overall it is a good standard DM game that stands the test of time.
