Starsiege

Dynamix / Sierra

Starsiege is the sequel to the Earthsiege games, and is in the same universe as the Tribes games. It is a mech combat game, but is completely different than the Mechwarrior series. The gameplay is very fast-paced, but it is rather simple. Choosing your HERC's(what they call mechs) is also easy, but it takes experience to learn what works the best. The game's story is very familiar, humans create AI, AI creates war machines, goes crazy and starts killing everyone, but the depth of the plot makes it very unique. The single player is divided into two campaigns, a human one, and a Cybrid(the AIs) one. During the campaigns, you change out sqaud members, reconfigure your HERCs, and read about the events that have recently happened. The human campaign is the basic fighting for survival, except that you start off has a member of the Mars rebellion that gets caught in the third Cybrid invasion. The Cybrid missions are much more fun because the mission objective is usually exterminate//purge the human\\animals. The Cybrid mission briefings are all in the Cybrid lingo, which I just used, that adds a mechanical feel to their missions. The games multiplayer is not innovative, but it is still a lot of fun. It seems more like a first-person shooter than a mech game. It has capture the flag and other team based modes. This game is a must have for action gamers.
